Social Media Marketing Education in Sonoma County
I just hit publish for my first series of in-person classes on social media marketing. I’m feeling an anxiety that I haven’t felt in a while. And that’s a good thing.
I am in the beginning stages of transitioning my business from one that is based on one-on-one social media consulting (and actually doing the social media marketing for brands), to one that focuses more on social media marketing for a larger audience. These in-person classes, which I’m calling Recipe for Instagram, are my first transition steps for my brand.
Creating an In-Person Class on My Own
I’ve hosted classes before, through PMG or the Sonoma County hotel industry group, and I’ve spoken on lots of panels and keynotes – but they’ve always been someone else’s event.
Someone else was doing the marketing for getting attendees, someone else was setting up the projector, someone else was coming up with the questions. This time, it is all me. And there is some anxiety, but also a lot more excitement for this.
These first two classes will take place in early August: one in Healdsburg, graciously hosted by the marketing team at Segeshio Family Winery, and the other at a new co-working space in downtown Santa Rosa, called coLAB, in the Press Democrat building on Mendocino Avenue. I’m consulting on social media marketing and will be one of the first members of the space, so I am excited to see them open in July.
Before each class, every attendee will have some homework that will hopefully get them to start thinking about their brands. The class itself will be a two-hour dive into Instagram, with a short workshop at the end for taking photos for social media marketing. Afterward, attendees will get to take a workbook home, along with a one-pager detailing how to talk to a boss about social media marketing – because, let’s be honest, we all know that the following numbers can be an easy trap for judging how well a brand is doing on social media.
Social Media Marketing Education
I currently have two dates on my website and I am BEYOND excited to share details!
Healdsburg Wine Workshop: Recipe for Instagram
Monday, August 6, 2018
Seghesio Family Vineyards (yes, wine will be provided)
12:30 PM 2:30 PM
Santa Rosa Workshop: Recipe for Instagram
Tuesday, August 7, 2018
coLAB Connects (cookies will be provided)
12:30 PM 2:30 PM
The class in Healdsburg will have a larger focus on social media for the wine industry, but both classes will have a TON of extra goodies, like a content playbook, a two-hour class with a mini photography workshop at the end, and a one-pager on how to talk to your boss about social media (i.e., why numbers are NOT the most important factor when it comes to ROI).
For my marketing friends in Sonoma County, I hope to see you at one of these classes. For anyone who would love for me to host a class in their area, email me and we can chat. I have been known to travel to other wine regions within California (Paso Robles, Lodi, San Luis Obispo, Temecula, Santa Barbara, and El Dorado Hills) to speak at wine conferences, so I would love to come to your area and host an in-person class for wine marketers there.
xo, Shana.
