Update As the Sonoma Fire Is Almost Contained

Update As the Sonoma Fire Is Almost Contained

Normally I have too much in my head that writing in front of a blank screen is easy. Right now everything seems trivial. I am stuck inside because my throat and eyes are taking a toll from the smoke outside. It is DAY EIGHT of the Sonoma and Napa fires and while I am happy to report they are almost contained, there is so much more to be done.

I had half of a blog post written for SonomaCounty.com on November live music, as well as nightlife in Sonoma County, but two of the ten places I wrote about took some hits (both the Luther Burbank Center and Gundlach Bundschu Winery are still standing, while they repair damages).

There are so many amazing venues and people coming together to create fundraisers that I cannot even start to write about everyone right now.

These unifying words from a poster in the town of Sonoma has been our motto this entire week (this image is from the marquee at Cline Cellars in Sonoma):

How I am doing with the Sonoma Fire

We have to keep Ryeson inside by an air purifier to keep his lungs healthy (he has a disease called #cysticfibrosis for anyone who didn't know). While the sky has been blue for the last six days, yesterday and today is a little bit more smokey where we live. Either way - it is not safe for anyone to stay outside for long periods of time.

Jeff and I were overwhelmed with calls and messages asking if Ryeson was OK. He is still running around driving everyone crazy with his energy. And he just learned how to hug so that is a source of giggles every day. ❤️

Amazing friends Melody and Tim and the people at Dyson gave us air purifiers so Rye could stay indoors, and we can stay at home where it’s easiest to give him his breathing treatments and feed him well.

Once again… This blog post may have a million grammar errors but it feels good to write and fill up a blank page with words that mean so much to me.

Sonoma Fire Efforts Continue

The efforts for helping after this fire comes to an end is definitely a marathon. There is going to be help needed for a long time. And we have so many amazing people helping right this minute. I have a few plans in the works so I’m excited to help this community how I can. ❤️❤️❤️⠀
