Quick Updates to Grow Your Instagram Business Page

When I work with clients, I usually go pretty in-depth with creating goals, planning content and tips & tricks for creating content and engaging — but sometimes people need just a few notes on how to turn around their Instagram page so I have two options. For a personalized audit of you an Instagram account, or other social media account, I created a social media audit, otherwise marketers and business owners can take a look at some quick tips below…

Quick Updates for your Biz Instagram Page:

  1. SEO IN YOUR NAME: Go to edit profile and change your name (not a username) to reflect brand keywords. This is how people can find you!

  2. EDIT YOUR INSTAGRAM BIO: Every social media bio you have should say: what you do, how you can help customers, and a CTA at the end! It is especially important to edit your Instagram bio by including a link (I recommend using a landing page vs linktree, but that’s just me)… Also, if you have a physical location - include an address! Don’t even get me started on how many restaurants I see don’t have any mention of which city they are in! Grrr. And a quick note: don’t add hashtags unless they are your own (because hashtags are links) because people may click on them and leave your page

  3. ENGAGE WITH YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE: Spend more time engaging with your audience than creating social media content. Relationships matter more than pretty pictures. Here are some more tips for engaging with your target audience on Instagram.

  4. GET SILLY & TAKE BREAKS: Have fun while creating content and engaging. Walk, drink wine... Get out of your own head when it comes to marketing and then go back to work. If you are in a bad mood while creating content it tends to show in your work

  5. GO TEAMWORK! Spend regular time with your team to brainstorm ideas. Write it down (I have a guide for doing this on my social media resources web page). Keep going!

  6. BATCH YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA WORK: Dedicate a specific time each week to brainstorming ideas, writing content, and shooting pictures/videos to save time & mental energy. No more NOT having a plan and posting random stuff at the last minute…
