Building Trust Through Social Media as you Open Back up

... no one said anything about wearing pants! ⁣ ⁣

But seriously. This is the type of energy I want to see from businesses that are starting to reopen.

Right now is the time to start (or continue) building trust through social media that you are going to take every precaution once you open back up. ⁣

It’s also the time to start thinking about how you are going to tell your story of how your team is staying safe and how the products or services you provide to customers. Even before you officially open back up.

Action Items for Building Trust on Social Media

  1. Customers need to be reassured over the next several months. I want to see social media pictures of people in masks (over your nose *cough, you know who*), and team members six feet apart. I also want to see how you are keeping customers safe by making space outdoors and cleaning.

  2. Show off behind the scenes videos and pictures — and overshare right now.

  3. Don’t just share one post and expect people to show up. Keep reminding people you are open back up and continue to share details about what to expect right now.

  4. Make sure to change up your ads, and online listings to reflect your current situation. Even promoting your latest WE ARE BACK post for $20 to locals can go a long way to targeting your customers and reminding them you are open.

  5. Share your posts in Facebook groups for your area (I know there is a Sonoma Valley one that locals use, the Healdsburg one is VERY active, and in the East Bay - I have discovered new restaurants from the Save Walnut Creek Restaurants Facebook group. So share away on those pages and let people know what you are offering.

  6. Make sure your website is easy to book an appt. Share the most direct link to book a reservation or get directions within your Instagram Bio.

  7. Add a pop-up or promotional bar to your website to set expectations.

Start to think about how you can weave the idea of trust and safety into all of your marketing efforts. I know for myself, I’m not getting on a plane until I feel like it safe and I’m going to need airlines to communicate what they are doing to help assure me. ⁣

California is starting to open back up, and we don’t know what this is going to look like, but be honest with your customers and invite them back. ❤️❤️❤️
